“I
can’t just run a business and hire people who do things that
I don’t understand” says Lit’seoana Mat’sela, fondly known
as Raheema, the owner of Prince Auto City, one of the newest
and promising car dealerships in Maseru. So she woke up one
morning and decided to find a course that she could do to
understand how accounting, especially VAT payment, works.

“I hated Accounts in high school so I never understood even
the basics, and I didn’t realize that that’s the most
important aspect of running a business.”
In a newspaper she found an advertisement about a course
that you could do at 60% discount by calling a number. The
number happened to be the LEAP project office.
In no time at all she had submitted her proposal to LEAP,
identified three service providers as required, selected
one, and she started the training. At a cost of thirteen
thousand Maloti, Raheema is studying Pastel Accounting, and
she will get all the software and support required to get
her business going. When the project is complete, she will
be reimbursed 60% of the cost of this project.
A woman in a woman’s world, Raheema has to deal with men
when she buys, and when she sells, but she is now confident
she can make it.

“Now I know how to collect VAT, how to price and how to keep
records properly. I know a lot!” Lit’seoana Mat’sela -
Raheema.
