Media Familiarised With Private Sector Competitiveness

Nearly 20 members of the Press attended a familiarisation tour of the Private Sector Competitiveness (PSC) Project on Friday February 19, 2010.

The tour covered Project sites in Maseru, Maputsoe and Hlotse.

The tour began with a morning briefing of the project, which was officially opened by the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, Mr. Teleko Ramotsoari and officiated by the Director of Trade, Mrs Mary Motebang.

The Press corps from various newspapers, radio and television stations visited sites that include the One-Stop-Business-Facilitation Centre, the newly computerised Company Registry, and Fruit Tree Farm that has produced the first grade apples at Thuathe.

Various private enterprises that have benefited from the Lesotho Enterprise Assistance Programme, LEAP, were also visited.

The five year World Bank funded PSC Project, which was established to improve the business environment to attract investment and diversify Lesotho’s economy, is in its third of implementation and is approaching mid-term.

Ends.
